cellulose degradation capability. Among twenty nine isolates, A
11 and A
20 were isolated from biodegraded building
wall material in Haridwar, Uttarakhand. The taxonomy of isolates was Streptomyces and Micromonospora which held
to be confirmed by morphological and 5.8 rDNA analysis. The capability of degradation of cellulose by cellulose clearing both isolates of actinomycetes. The cellulose- and the non-cellulose-clearing actinomycetes apparently
employ similar mechanisms to depolymerize cellulose; most likely an enzymatic mechanism is involved.
<Email>garimaaryaphd@gmail.com</Email><articletype>Research</articletype><volume>3</volume><issue>2</issue><year>2013</year><keyword>Actinomycetes,Building material,Cellulose,Degradation,Micromonospora,Streptomyces</keyword><AUTHORS>Arya G,Kaushik P</AUTHORS><afflication>Dept. of Botany and Microbiology, Gurukul Kangri Vishwavidyalaya, Haridwar, 249407, U.K,Dept. of Botany and Microbiology, Gurukul Kangri Vishwavidyalaya, Haridwar, 249407, U.K</afflication></Article></Articles>
